Basketball Drill Purpose

This is a simple listening drill to help develop basic stopping and starting footwork in basketball. Athletes respond to the coach’s cues and either jump stop or stride stop to help them master basic foot control.

Basketball Equipment Needed

A small playing area on a basketball court, use the half or full court with more athletes.

How To Play

Variation:

You may add a basketball to progress the skill to help teach athletes not to travel and develop ball handling and dribbling skills along with both starts and stops.
