Basketball Drill Purpose
This fun dribbling game can be used to develop both ball handling skills or be used as a fun warm up drill for middle school kids. Players with the ball learn to keep their eyes up, control the ball and use both hands. A great game for building confidence while dribbling. Tic Tac Toe forces the players to focus on something other than the ball. A good strategy game to help build team work and communication.
Basketball Equipment Needed
Minimum 4 players, split in to 2 teams. 2 balls, one for each team. A playing area approximately 15 feet x feet. 9 dots or markers to use as playing grid. 2 sets of different coloured items (e.g. socks) to be used to place on dots or markers.
How To Play
(Watch video)
Variation:
You may restrict the dribbling hand to the weak hand to improve dexterity. Speed up the dribbling by adding a timeclock to try to get a winner in a set period of time. You may add other ball handling drills, like crossovers or through the legs on their way to the playing grid.
