Basketball Drill Purpose
This fun layup drill can be used to develop both ball handling skills (crossovers) and different layup types or techniques (runner, floater, euro etc). It can also be used as a fun warm up or cool down drill for middle school kids.
Basketball Equipment Needed
Minimum 4 cones and an agility ladder and a basketball hoop and at least 2 basketballs.
How To Play
With older or more experienced athletes you can have them compete against each other by having them work to get each of their team players through the ladder, taking it in turns. With first group to complete the task the winner. You can have athletes do different types of layups (runners, floaters, reverse etc.) and different crossovers (i.e. through legs, behind back etc). If the coach is in the ladder, maybe have the coach do a penalty if the team gets them through to the other side.
